A school project focused on a famous type designer. Akira Kobayashi is a juggernaut in the type design field. His clean, bold, and angular letters inspired me to choose him. Akira has an interesting design philosophy, having worked for both the Western and Eastern design markets. He tries to incorporate influences from both cultures into each other. This allows him to achieve something unique and fresh. I wanted this booklet and the subsequent web ads to incorporate this simple, refined style while still retaining bold, angular Japanese characters that could be used as points of interest.
